Sloop HMS Rosemaryas modified mid-war. She was
converted to
oil-fuel, and the foremast stepped abaft the bridge and
mainmast removed. The 2pdr's amidships
were replaced by single 20mm AA and two more were added

This motley collection of ships was the survivor of 106 ships
built in WW1. Originally intended as minesweepers, they were
found to be far more useful as escort sloops, and this was their
original role.
Despite their age, Foxglove and Rosemary were
used on escort work up until 1943, but joined Lupin in
harbour service soon after.
War modiifcations were to restep the foremast from the fo'c'sle
to abaft the bridge, add a 12pdr AA gun aft & two single 20mm
cannon in Rosemary, replacing the after 4" gun with
a 12pdr AA, adding two single pom-poms and for single 20mm
Oerlikons in the Foxglove.
In 1941 Rosemary had the unhappy yet very lucky distinction of
being rammed by a transport Carrickfergus, the Free
Polish destroyer Burza and the escort carrier Trumpeter
