Miner II
  • Launched 18 Aug. 1939 as the controlled minelayer M2
  • renamed Miner II in 1942
  • served throughout the war in Home Waters laying mines to protect ports and shipping channels
  • renamed Gossamer 1949
  • became mine location vessel attached to HMS Osprey at Portland
  • sunk as a target May 1970 by Iranian destroyer Artemiz (ex-HMAS Sluys)
Miner IV
  • Launched 6 Aug. 1940 as the controlled minelayer M4
  • renamed Miner IV 1942
  • operated throughout the war laying protective mine barriers in Home waters
  • attached to the Vernon Flotilla for mining trials
  • reported for disposal Dec. 1961
  • de-equipped at Portsmouth Mar. 1962
  • sold 1965 - the first of the class to be sold out of service
Miner V
  • Completed as controlled minelayer M5 26 Jun. 1941
  • renamed Miner V in 1942
  • renamed Britannic in 1960 when converted to a cable-layer based at Portsmouth
