"P" class repeats, they had a lower
bridge, because the 4" gun was mounted lower, and without a
rotating breastwork like the earlier ships. Like their
"O" and "P" kin, they suffered terribly in
the Mediterannean, 11 of 15 being sunk. This confirmed that using
large submarines in confined, shallow waters was a totally
unnaceptable strategy, and the remainder were withdrawn.
Rover was fitted with a 20mm cannon in 1944.
